WTS: IBM ThinkPad A31p with Numpad Unit (and A31p parts)

Due to needing a new laptop I decided to sell off some of my thinkpad collection.

Up for sale is an A31p with the fabled and rare numpad unit in great shape (both the caddy and numpad are both present). (WARNING LARGE IMAGES: https://imgur.com/a/9CXOp2h ).

Pictures of the numpad can be found in the album attached (the machine in the pictures is not the one I'm selling as its not working, the working machine can be seen in the pictures of it turned on :) ).
The specs on the A31p are as follows (machine type: 2653-R9G)
- Pentium 4-M CPU @2GHz (the fastest available in these),
- 1600x1200 UXGA FlexView panel (a bit dim on the sides but still more than usable),
- 512mb RAM, can bump it up to 1GB if I find my DDR stash,
- ATI FireGL 7800,
- CD reader in the left Ultrabay.

It's cosmetically in good shape other than a scratch on the plastic lid and a small chunk of the bezel missing around the left hinge. The left screen latch can sometimes not slide into its groove correctly, but its easily "guided" into its correct place by a finger (not sure whats up with it, not bent or anything).

Also have 2 A31ps available for parts, both have issues with the motherboards (board flex). If anyone would be interested in those or in any parts, feel free to PM me. Can also swap the bezel from one of these onto the A31p I'm selling above if desired.

After asking around for a price check, I've landed on 250eur shipped in the EU, for the A31p + numpad. Am also willing to trade for a newer ThinkPad (FHD screen). As for the A31p parts, feel free to PM me and we can work something out :)

That was a top-end model at the time...
P4-M 2GHz, 256MB RAM, 40GB HDD, 15 UXGA(1600x1200) TFT LCD, 16x10x24x/8x CD-RW/DVD, 802.11b wireless/Modem(MPCI), Ethernet(CDC), IEEE 1394, IBM Secure Chip(TCPA), Bluetooth(CDC), TV out, Li-Ion battery, WinXP Pro
Ahh to be young again...and able to dish out $4K for a brand new A31p... :D ...one can always dream.

Best of luck with the sale

Thank you, didn't know it was the absolute top end. Kind of surprised me with the wireless prompt when I booted up into XP, am used to these coming without wireless modems.

hello

would you be willing to sell only the numeric keypad + device carrier, and ship it to USA?

I also sent you a PM but it looks like it's lost (or got delivered but from my end, I can't see)

thanks

Such a beautiful and fascinating machine. I have quite some projects to finish and a limited budget right now, otherwise I would be interested. It'd be fantastic to find that kind of numpad on newer ThinkPads (sub 14" ones with no numpad), hotswapping an optical drive/HDD/numpad must be awesome.

Could still budge on the price a little bit if you're interested.

Anyhow, bump and down to 250 shipped!

I have a space flight rated A31p with everything but the Velcro. Mine is near mint but without the keypad.

Is it for sale by chance?

Never. I waited nearly 20 years for one of these and I'm keeping it.

Hello! I think my offers would be too low as my need is not urgent. However if either of your spare machines for parts are type 2654 I would be interested please. Best wishes!

Just as FYI, the only difference between 2653 and 2654 model numbers was warranty coverage eligibility when they were new ~20 years ago.

I might be interested in buying it -- if it's still available -- but I live in the US. How possible would it be to ship there?
