WTB: New Old Stock (NOS) NMB T60, T61, X60, X61 Keyboard
WTB: New Old Stock (NOS) NMB T60, T61, X60, X61 Keyboard
Hi, I am looking to buy a New Old Stock (NOS) NMB T60 or T61 keyboard. I'd like to avoid Alps and Chicony because I can get those on my own. I'm looking for a keyboard in new or near new / mint condition, and I am willing to pay a bit for a confirmed NMB newer keyboard. I am not interested in used ones with any shine or defects, any reproductions, etc. Please PM me here (slow response) or email at jcdbm2040@pm.me (quicker) if you have a spare you'd like to sell. I am located in USA West Coast and use the US English layout.

Count me in! If there's a source for such keyboards I might be interested to know as well, same for *20 series. It's not like I need one now but I'd like to know if there's a way to get them.

I hate to break it to you but the ship for NOS NMB keyboards sailed long ago. At this point, the only way I can get them is buy buying up for-parts machines on eBay that are in good cosmetic condition and hoping one has an NMB board in it.
T43p, T61p, T601p, T601 (dead), T601, T60p (Prototype), X230, P53, T480 (In the process of rebuilding)

..at the risk of de-railing the topic a little, are keycaps swappable between *20 Chicony and NMB?

No.
NMB, Chicony and Alps each have different keys, they only LOOK alike from above.

Still NOT a great day for a Guinness! (the Real Black Stuff).

Luckily, (I believe) I found an NMB keyboard on eBay, one where the mechanism form an X-like pattern vertically. Brand new as well, in the original Lenovo box. I promptly donated to Goodwill what I think were my Chicony keyboards, ones where the switches are horizontal, key caps matte, key travel very mushy. The legends were true -- I saw for myself that it really was a night and day difference between NMB and Chicony.H-Atkinson wrote: ↑Thu Jan 21, 2021 6:50 pmI hate to break it to you but the ship for NOS NMB keyboards sailed long ago. I am cleaning this keyboard obsessively, and will be using it a lot less once I get a new ThinkPad.
I think this topic can be closed now that I have finished my search.
