WTB: UltraBay II HDD adapter and TP770 HDD caddy etc.

#1 Post by Edward Mendelson » Sat Mar 06, 2021 1:14 pm

I'm expecting a TP 770Z to arrive this week, and would like to be able to copy some partitions from an existing 760XL system. I think I'll need the UltraBay II HDD adapter (11J8836) and an HDD caddy for the 770 series (or caddy with a dead or even working HDD).

Does anyone on the forum want to clear these things out of a dusty closet? If so, please let me know.

EDIT: I see that the easiest thing to use is the 770 2nd HDD adapter: 11J8941. So that's another thing I'll be glad to take off anyone's hands who doesn't want or need it. And I see that this adapter requires a disk in either of these caddies 760 series caddy (FRU: 11J8943) or a 770 series caddy (FRU: 11J8942).

Hi there!
I have a dead ThinkPad 770ED (typical dead power board) with its video decoder board, HDD caddy, DVD-ROM drive all most likely perfectly working.
The CPU (PII-266) might work too.
Let me know if you wanna have the entire unit or just parts of the unit that you want.
I won't charge you for more than the HDD and DVDROM plus postage either way.
As for the 2nd hard drive situation, electrically that connector is the same in pinout to the Ultraslimbay and Ultrabay 2000 devices. So if you get a HDD caddy for those, it will electrically work, just getting it to slot in perfectly is a bit of a challenge.
DM if interested.
Thanks

A 770-series HDD caddy that I thought might be available seems not to be available after all, so I'm still in the market for one.

Also in the market for a 770Z keyboard bezel and DIMM door - and, if anyone has one, a dead 770 series battery that will fill the battery opening in the somewhat battered 770Z that I recently acquired. It's a mess, but seems to work.
