Hello,
I just want to let You know, may be someone is interested in and still uses PCMCIA slots on his Thinkpads in order to expand the access to datadrives ...
... I should like to sell my external PCMCIA-Harddisk from IBM (Travelstar 8E 8GB).
It is on offer on "fleebay" ( fleebay Germany No.: 203340186184), but I should prefer to sell it to someone on thinkpads.com. As I
have to quote a price I shall do so:
40 $ as negotiable starting price plus shipping & handling (which will produce some additional cost).
I had it tested, replace the dead HDD (Travelstar (DYLA 82100) by another Travelstar (DYLA82100) tested and I had it up and running again on Windows 7 latest with my TPA31P. Thiat is how I came to know the careful way IBM built the casing for their Travelstar-drives.
The DYLA has the 2,5 format (length & width) but it is built higher. I'm quite sure that later IBM-Travelstar, as long as they fit the 2,5"-sheme and IDE/PATA-standards would fit into the casing perfectly, as well protected as the DYLA-drive.
I think I still have the software that was used to have it installed/work with older versions of Windows and I would offer to send that software (via Mail or Micro-SD),of course.
Happy trails and stay safe ...
