WTB SelectaBase 770 (and dock iii)

#1 Post by brianboyracer » Fri Sep 03, 2021 2:11 pm

Hi I’ve a 770x and would love to pair it up with the SelectaBase 770 so I can use my old gameport joysticks, please get in touch if one for sale? If you also have a SelectaDock III that would also be of interest as keen to try my old pci graphics card, many thanks, cheers Brian, Manchester UK

Hi,

I am parting with most of my old faithful Thinkpad hardware.
Right now I am in the cleaning / sorting process.
But I do have a SelectaDock III docking station available, along with various SelectaBase modules (600, 770 and I *think* also 76x)
Shipping may not come cheap however, this thing is very heavy !
Let me know so I can check in the coming days
Best regards,
Joscelyn

Check https://www.sendmybag.com/
They are affiliated with DHL.
Only 2 weeks ago I used them to ship a heavy Thinkpad Dock II (>3KG) from Ireland to Australia for over 30% cheaper than via regular Irish mail (AnPost).
And it took less than 10 days!
They come and pick it up from your home, on the other end recipient has to sign for it.
Highly recommended.
Lovely day for a Guinness! (The Real Black Stuff)

Thank you RBS !

I have checked them out and yes indeed their prices are quite competitive compared to other couriers & postal services.
I have a LOT of docks to push out, so this may come handy :)

Hi RBS,

Just chiming in to add some feedback regarding a docking station shipping costs from Europe to the United States :

The rates of sendmybag.com are interesting indeed - however...
I have since found out that for international shippings (like a 3546 Docking station), dimensions are what counts !
Even more so than weight - so perhaps they are more competitive inside Europe

First figure was GBP 74.84 - very reasonable, or so I thought
Once I entered the dimensions of the package (51x53x29 cm for 15 Kgs) it went way up : GBP 127,63

Fedex was € 421.86 - no comment.
I tried DHL : € 178.65 (+ € 11 for pick-up, not included)
Then UPS : € 114.72 - much better ! (allowed weight up to 70 Kgs)

For completeness, I looked on the French postal service website, cost is € 169

Strange, for that heavy dock to Oz I paid only €54.- (dimensions 32 x 10 x 39 cm, any weight up to 5KG)

My next shipment is a laptop to Switzerland for €38.- (dimensions 40 x 31 x 11 cm, any weight up to 5KG)

RBS,

The dimensions you wrote made my think : was it a 2877 Dock II or a 3546 Dock II that you have sent to Oz ?
Volume occupation of each one is quite different :)
Oh, and weight too, btw : the 3546 Dock II I am sending is 7.7 Kgs bare - and the one I am sending has a 5"1/4 Micropolis SCSI as well as the 701C Adapter fitted -
