Thinkpad T41 + docking station + 4 9 cell batteries = $40

#1 Post by h2 » Tue Jun 14, 2022 4:51 pm

I am clearing out some of older stuff, and thought maybe someone here would want this.

It's as is, all in one, my goal is just get rid of it, ideally to a good home.

Known warts. 1 of the usb plugs is dead I think. The audio plug is dead, or was last I checked. The 6 cell battery is low state, about 14% of battery life remaining. Surprisingly, it has not lost anymore since I last tested it in 2016. The CMOS battery may be dead, I'm not sure, it had lost the date data.

Comes with: 6 cell battery, 4 9 cell batteries, 1 IBM thinkpad docking station, 2 IBM power supplies, and the T41. If I can find it, also another cpu, I had 'upgraded' the cpu to a 2000 mhz one, but that was a bad idea I found, the thinkpad had trouble keeping that cool.

2 GiB ram, 80 GiB seagate hdd, that may have errors, I was getting errors running inxi on it. Other than warts, machine is in decent shape, docking station works, and the 4 9 cells are marked with their last states of charge when I packed them away.

Asking a token fee of $40 plus $15 shipping, assuming I can cram all this into a flatrate usps priority mail box.

I have some PCMCIA cards too if you tell me what you want, I'll just toss those in as freebie extras. And maybe a spinning 2.5" disk, but those take a while to wipe.

If this is of use to anyone, let me know, figured I'd stop by here first.

Drive will be wiped when it's shipped.

I was going to boot AntiX on this, but I don't think this one supports USB boot, so i had to use an old install CD, so some data is missing. On onother OS, I checked the battery state of charge, and it was 14% capacity remaining. The 9 cells I think have more.
