I am unlucky to have paid this seller USD600.00 on 25Sept'24 with no shipping advice or tracking reference of Malaysia Post - calls to his mobile/whatsapp not get thru. Once he got my payment he should have updated this thread with sold to ... but he has not until now.
Suggest you be careful , unless he already contact you too,

Hi Zaz
What method would that be, I used Wise transfer - which not refundable as wise is just method of transfer like Paypal- so 'seller' can just keep quiet &
enjoy my funds.
Only ebay gives refunds, but crooks use forums, reddit etc. to skim from.
That this is first time for me speaks volumes to the high standards & ethics of most members here, sometimes a bad egg slips in

I was hoping Paypal or even better a credit card would offer an avenue to getting your money back. I'm sorry this happened. You're right that people here tend to be more honest, but noting is ever 100%.

You might be able to file suit with your country’s court.
Theres laws for international commerce. I know my rights. Aristotle recommends we all learn the laws.

TPFanatic,
Thanks but fees for that beyond my pocket. Use hammer to swat a fly could get my fingers bruised<grin>
I am no coward, but I do believe karma is real

Whether by ignorance or malice notwithstanding , consistent act of swindling is inevitably repaid, such is nature.
My condolences and indeed may karma make it right

It's odd that someone would sign up for a niche website, post a couple of times over the course of 15 years about technical matters, and then turn around and swindle someone out of $600 USD.
The long game here is just .... what? What is the NPV of $600 over the course of 15 years?
I'm thinking dude either died, or something else bad happened where they don't have access. Also, doing a reverse image search of any of those images yields nothing.
What a strange situation.
The other possibility is that, the account was dormant or used a shared password, someone else gained access, and then used it to make a quick buck. Maybe we should disable accounts that aren't logged into after a certain period (1 year?). I would also be in favor of a rule where if you are posting something for sale, you have to show the thinkpads.com website loaded in one of the photos.
Curious how this plays out. Sorry about the $600, hopefully you have strong consumer protections.
