wanted - 600X backup battery

Try a local battery store. They may have an assembly all ready to pop in. For a lot less money, then can also take your current harness and spot-weld it to a $3 cell.

In case you haven't read the fourteen other times I've written this... :)
*** DO NOT SOLDER TO A LITHIUM CELL ***
Tape would be fine. Soldering heats the cell much more than a spot weld. If you're lucky, it will only shorten its lifespan. If you get it hot enough, you could kill it, make it leak, start a fire, or make it explode.
Exploding tiny metal bits and hot, sticky acidic goo are generally incompatible with humans having a good time... not to mention fully operational ThinkPads.
Just use tape, or let the pros handle it.
