I am still searching for a ThinkPad R50. It can be in any condition: new or used, working or not working.
I would like it to have the following:
Windows XP Pro
Pentium M 1.4GHz or higher with Intel Centrino technology
Intel 802.11b wireless
256 or 512MB RAM or higher
40GB HD or higher
14.1 XGA (1024x768)
32MB ATI Radeon 7500
CD-RW/DVD
Security chip
IEEE 1394
Send me a PM, or post here, if anybody has an R50. And I need one by April.

Yes, we both want an R50 (and we also want an R52 and other R series ThinkPad's, some T, X, G, and A series ThinkPad's and other ThinkPad's).

There are lots of R series thinkpads in the raleigh craigslist - have a look. I just saw and there are some decent deals ... if you haggle you can get one at a decent price
Let me know wht your budget is - I saw a R series (dunno what model, it was closed) in the surplus yesterday. Surplus usualy has a barebones models (No HDD/RAM) at cheap prices, so if you are interested I'll go have a look at it and get back to you.

Got a price point for your search?
I might have a lead to some factory refurbs.

Sorry, this isn't a price negotiation, I simply wanted to know if you're looking to spend $20 or a realistic amount before I expend
any time and energy looking for a machine for you.
You can PM if you don't want it made public.

Wow, still looking after two and a half years! It would be helpful if you tell us what's the most you're willing to spend.

I guess that I am willing to spend any amount.

2+ years between the first post and now will obviously mean that your base machine is going to be available for a lot less than it was back then. I don't know how much an R50 like what you want retailed for back in late 05, but I'd imagine that Ed's R60 would be, for want of a better set of words, similar in "now" terms to what an R50 was back then (when you compare release dates and the like). Of course, it's much more powerful than the R50, plus has the important factor of warranty remaining.

Thanks for the R60 offer, but right now I am looking for an R50. I am going to be looking for an R60 later.

thePCxp, there are plenty of R50's on eBay, so I don't understand why you couldn't find one after over two years of searching. At first I thought that's because you had a very low budget (like <$150), but you said you're willing to "spend any amount". So, what made it so hard to find an R50?
