Hello,
in order to load the A31P for my wife "properly", I'm looking for a German version of the Recovery-CD for the A31P or equivalent
(copy of preload/content of hidden partition?).
Please let me know via this one of Bill's forums, I'll be back daily 'till I have solved this problem
Thank You for any help granted

You can broaden your search for a set of recovery CDs as you can easily use a set from any late model Thinkpad, including T4xx series, and just download the correct drivers for the A31p from the IBM website.

Thank You James,
I'll talk to IBM tomorrow, on their website it says (FRU:32P7036) "price to be quoted" (my translation) and they give a phonenumber to call.
On ebay I found someone offering such IBM-CD for an older A and one of the late T40ties, so I emailed him. If IBM does quote unreasonable prices I'll try the guy with ebay.
Again thank You very much.
I'll have to get the notebook ready to go till the end of my holidays and, although the A31P is a nice one, this means some days&nights of straight diskjockeying 'till it is the tool it has to be.

Many of the earlier A30s and A31s were offered with XP, so there should be a fairly large base of these recovery CDs available, even in DE.
IBM is only allowed to sell you a set of recovery CDs for the operating system that originally installed on your Thinkpad, i.e. if the unit you purchased for your wife was originally shipped with, for instance, W2K or XP Home, then that's the only recovery CDs they'll provide regardless of which OS you would prefer.

James
