Got it from eBay. Pain in the butt to install b/c of all the antennas for the wireless, etc. But it was worth it. SXGA+ is just AMAZING.

I got lucky b/c that was about $50-$75 below the average selling price and it was a new panel. Just happened to be from a new seller w/ ZERO feedback so no one else wanted to risk it.

You need a new LCD cable, the XGA and SXGA screens use different cables.

It was previously mentioned that you need a new LCD inverter, BUT THAT IS NOT TRUE. I bought one, and when I got the laptop apart the part number of the inverter in the system was the same as the one I ordered.

Any change to a part that is not considered "user serviceable" voids the warranty.

This includes the following:
Motherboard
Processor
LCD

others?

but what if you put them back on before sending it in? how would they know you messed with the processor or lcd? i guess i should just wait until my warranty is out until i start adding things then. oh wait...what if i had somebody from ibm's service center shops install it? still voids warranty?

no, if you can get documentation that an IBM tech put the parts in they you should be ok on warranty.

problem with taking things out and putting them in is that everytime you open the chasis there is a small chance you are going to futz something up. small, but not 0. Especially with LCD replacements, there is ALWAYS some sign that the casing has been opened up simply b/c there are so many steps.
