Where can I find the NMB Thai Keyboard?

I just bought a new T42 and it came with the ALPS keyboard (FRU 13N9957). I called IBM and asked them if they could send the NBM Thai keyboard (FRU 08K5044). They said that FRU has been replaced with FRU 39T0519 (made in China). The only other keyboard they have available is the Chicony keyboard. Anyway, after trying both keyboards, I am very dissapointed. In fact, I am considering returing this T42. For me, one of the biggest selling points of the Thinkpad has always been the great keyboard.

Does anybody know where I can find the real NMB Thai keyboard (FRU 08K5044)? I really want to keep this machine, but I need to get this fixed.

On another topic, I'm happy to report that the T42 is quiet as can be!

AFAIK NMB keyboards are no longer made in Thailand.
I do not think that IBM has them in stock anymore.

You may want to try e-bay. I think I saw few in the past.

Seller nbpartsltd on ebay has both the 08K5044and 39T0519. Both are stamped as made in Thailand. I ended up buying the 39T0519, which I received, and it was made in Thailand. Here is the email I got from him regarding the 08K5044. (This is his one-word response to my question of what country is listed on the bottom of the 08K5044 part he is selling).

@Aroc

So, I take it the one you received wasn't the one shown in the picture of the item description (T30 model)?

Could you tell me if the buttons located on the top (Access IBM etc.) are surrounded by a SHINY/GLOSSY bezel (i.e. it looks better and will show fingerprints) or is it matte? Thanks!

The keyboard I bought has the matte finish as described by you, (which I prefer). I don't like finger print smudges. Model 39T0519, stamped as made in Thailand. The key response is excellent.

Got a lot of NMB keyboards, the bad thing - they are all used (pulled from laptops)

Finally was able to compare Chinese and Thai keyboards. Thai (NMB) are way more quiter, there is no clocking sounds, tectile feedback is somewhat better too.

Yay for NMB!
