custom touchpadless bezel

#1 Post by Zedicus » Wed Feb 15, 2006 12:50 pm

do you hate the touchpad at the botom of the R51 R52 laptop yur currently using? do you have dreams of removing it completly from the bezel to only have the standard trackpoint?? (NOTE: there may be a TON other styles of laptop i can do this too. just depends on how the bezel is set up) if so get ahold of me and i can make yur dreams come true...

(NOTE: the first person who wants it done and is willing to wait 2 weeks for build time i will do it for FREE as long as you pay shipping. this is so i can get some demo pictures up, etc)

(NOTE2: i use to do auto body work. i know what im doing and can make the bezel match perfectly, if you dont like it, i would be willing to replace with stock bezel)

(NOTE3: this will also do away with the buttons for the touchpad and all the wiring on the bottom of the bezel, etc.)

IBM makes these.

For example, the part number for a T40 bezel without a touch pad is 91P8399.

Costs all of $18.

Here is a link to a snapshot of a shopping cart with this item. (I cannot point directly to the item at the IBM shopping site)

Can you powdercoat too? If so, how much for two T41 lcd cover lids?

I also have been thinking of doing something completely outside my comfort space and putting an upholstered cover of some sort on my T40p. Something like what this guy has done with his cell. I know and feel that it is a weird and crazy thing to do to a Thinkpad but I want to start regularly doing stuff outside my comfort zone in an effort to get out of my cocoon.

Do you do stuff like this? What would it cost?
