thanks for the search, well...the sellers are in USA so they may not ship up north, and one of the auctions says if you have USB1.1 not to bid. i have an IBM A31, i believe my usb is 1.0, has anyone used this adapter and knows if it works.

thanks

You know that even USB 2.0 doens't deliver 1Gbit of speed eh?

(and that your cpu load will be high!)

Unless I'm mistaken, your 1.1 USB port has a data throughput that's only 1/9 or so that of a 100 mbps connection.

You'd be better off with a PCMCIA/Cardbus adapter if you want to approach gigabit speeds. A USB 1.1 interface to Ethernet will struggle to fully load even a 10Mbps link!

Cheers,

Bill

was thinking the same thing last night as a CSR from one of those USB adapters said the speed would be slower.

ok, well....i guess i will have the take my TV pcmcia card out and use it for gigabit pcmcia

thanks to all

is there a way to add...via external another pcmcia slot for more cards or add an external device that allows you to connect pci cards to your laptop

thanks
