FS: M10 "Long" fan for ThinkPad T4x

#1 Post by K. Eng » Sun Feb 26, 2006 11:37 am

IBM p/n 13R2657. Basically a ThinkPad T4x fan that covers both CPU and Radeon 9600 GPU. I paid $46 shipped for it.

Asking $35 shipped via USPS Priority Mail. Payment by check or money order.

email me if you are interested!

Some ThinkPad owners have successfully used the M10 "Long" fan to quiet down their ThinkPads.

lophiomys' report.

I unfortunately did not have the same amount of success as lophiomys, so I am selling this fan, which is quieter than the standard short fan.

Interesting - Would this give any benefit to the MR7500?

when my system board died i think it was due to that chip overheating so I am inclined to pick this up from you... Will it sit flush with the MR7500? its not in the same packaging so i am not sure if height is the same...

The GPU part of the HS does not contact the MR7500 chip. I think the MR9600 GPU sits higher.

Someone on this forum did construct some copper shims to extend the M10 fan to the MR7500, but I don't know exactly how this works.

I was giving away thermal gaskets that would allow the M10 to reach the GPU. Adding the gaskets brought the GPU temp within 3-5 degrees of the CPU temp, as measured using FanControl. A large improvement for my machine.

Here's the original thread.

BTW, I still have gaskets to supply 2 more people, and then I'm out.
