WTB:22P9191 or 22P9215 IBM Powered USB2.0 cable (power only)

#1 Post by neukrisz » Tue Feb 28, 2006 12:34 am

Hi All,

I'd like to buy a power cable what I can use for getting some voltage from my X40 for my external slimline USB2.0 DVDRW.

Power only is enough....

I don't know where can I buy just a power cable what fits for the X40 power outlet....

Please help me!
Thx in advance!

'some' voltage? better use 'right' voltage ...

what's the dvd ps voltage? you can easily get 5v in a 4mm connector witn an usb / PSP charging cable.
T440s OK so far.
T420s NVIDIA graphics. Nice, then MB failure.
T400s Workhorse. two of'em, both faulty display with vertical stripes.
T43 °very nice° - MB reflown and dead, two of'em.
T42 15°, dead onboard wireless.
T40, dead memory slot, stolen from me
T30, stolen from me
TP600 dead

the voltage is not important, the main is minimum 5V DC.

If I get more than 5V, I can regulate it to 5V DC...
no problem 8)

The normal USB voltage insn't enough cause it comes with maximum 0.5 ampere...
I need more than 1A for my DVDRW in write mode...

build or buy a splitter cable:

Or put the regulator device in a small box that also powers the TP.

This cable isn't good for me, cause I'd like to use my DVDRW in mobile 8)

Then you are OOL because you can't draw current from anywere else in the laptop, expecially @ 1A. But you can probalby power the dvd with a flat battery pack, again like the ones used for the PSP.

[EDIT]I didn't knew about this powered usb the x40 has. Cannot even find a picture of one.. but thanks for explaining!

The X40 has a special power outlet on the left side what provide more than 1A ----- and I'd like to use this port, but the socket is very special - I haven't seen before like this....
This would be the best way (my point of view...)

do you know this special socket? have you ever seen?
