Up for sale is an IBM Thinkpad X40. Type 2371-XX3. The specs are as follows:

Pentium M 1.2GHz Low Voltage Processor
1.5GB SDRAM
40GB HDD
Intel Pro/1000 Gigabit Ethernet
Intel Wireless B/G
Bluetooth
Black Tom Binh Brain Cell (click for more information)

$1000.00 OBO

The serial number is available upon request. Please post here with any questions. Thanks!

By the way, this item is located in Southern California.

UPDATE MARCH 7, 2006

1) condition - The unit is in a like-new, extremely well maintained condition. It has not suffered any drops or abuse.

2) warranty expiration - The warranty expired late last year. As of now, there is no warranty on the unit.

3) shipping included? - Shipping is not included, however I agree to ship the item with whatever method the buyer is willing to pay for. Since the item is located in Southern California, a local buyer may pick up the item in order to waive shipping costs.

4) how do you propose protecting the buyer with this transaction? eBay account, escrow, sending the laptop first??? - eBay/PayPal is perfectly fine. My eBay account is "acumo". Click here for my feedback page. I'm not familiar with escrow services and I would prefer not sending the laptop first. I understand $1000 is a lot to send to a new member of the forum, though I hope to instill some faith/trust with my eBay feedback and soon-to-come pictures.

5) link to pictures of unit - I'll include some pictures within a day or two. Sorry for not including them earlier.

6) a/c adapter, battery, anything else included? A genuine IBM A/C adapter and 8-cell Li-ion battery (extended battery that sticks out the back) is included.

Hope that helps!
Jeff

Sounds nice. The following would be helpful;

1) condition

2) warranty expiration

3) shipping included?

4) how do you propose protecting the buyer with this transaction? eBay account, escrow, sending the laptop first???

5) link to pictures of unit

6) a/c adapter, battery, anything else included?

You only joined this forum a few days ago. Most should be hesitant to send a grand to you.

w0t,

I highly recommend Bill Morrow (owner of Thinkpads.com) as an escrow agent. He only charged my buyers $50 + check postage, and they were all very pleased with his service (as was I). Of course, sometimes the same people who will complain about a seller not having an escrow service can be the same people who will then complain about having to pay for escrow when it IS offered... but it is a good idea to have an agent available anyway, just in case.

Good Luck.

I may consider this, but I believe the best way might actually be through eBay.
