FT Athlon 64 Rig for laptop
Posted: Sat Mar 18, 2006 3:39 pm
In case you don't want to read my story, just read the bolded parts
I'm going to be moving again in about 3 months, and I just realized how difficult it is to move my computer, 2x17" TFT monitors, power amp, 2x ~500W speakers, computer desk, etc, and how many trips it'll take in my small mazda protege. So, I want to trade my rig for a laptop. I don't need anything really portable, I have a T23 I lug around solely for work, but want another laptop to keep work and general use apart from each other. I'm looking for a low end P4/PM/Celly-M/AXP/Sempron laptop for basic web surfing, music, dvd watching, etc. I don't plan on playing any games, so shared video memory is fine.
You may wonder why I don't just use my T23 to do those things; well it's because I have alot of research data on my laptop so it's pretty mission-critical, and the laptop ONLY has windows, office, and IE installed, and I plan on keeping it that way. Anyway, that's my rant, here's what I have for trade:
FT:
Epox 8KDA3+ skt 754 mobo
Athlon 64 3300+ w/ Zalman CNPS7000-AlCu heatsink (i like it.. it's REALLY quiet compared to my old volcano 12+)
1.25gb PC3200 memory (2x512 + 1x256).
128mb Radeon 9800 pro flashed to 9800xt. There's something with the clock speeds, but I haven't really had the time to look into it since I don't play games anymore. (look at photos for more info)
2x WD 120gb PATA drives (I run them RAID 0 w/ the nvraid utility)
2x Maxtor 40gb PATA drives (I run them RAID 0 also)
16x DVD+/- RW, can write DL DVD too, don't remember the exact specs (I bought it for ~70 on sale at Best Buy about a year ago).
PCI Promise ATA100 card (adds 2 more PATA slots/4 more hard drives)
4 case fans (nothing too special with those, they came out of broken PSUs)
1.44 floppy
2 blue UV reactive rounded cables
and $55 in my paypal account, maybe a little bit more if you accept credit cards
If you're local (Davis, CA) and you're interested, I can give you my speakers too. They're BIG W/D/H (2'/1'/3.5').
This computer is stable. I haven't restarted in awhile... downloaded Uptime from Idyle software, and it says 10 days 3 hours 55 minutes 47 seconds.

Sorry I don't have a really good pic of the hardware, I don't want to take it apart until I have to.
WTTF
P4/PM/Celly-M/AXP/Sempron laptop
- I'm looking for something on the low-end/midrange spectrum, not going to do anything intensive
- I'm NOT looking for anything high end, so please no offers to buy your P4 3.2HT w/ 7800GTX for 2000 dollars.
- must be functional (none of the dead backlights, broken latches, broken hinges, cracked lcd, overheats, missing keys, etc) I don't want to fix anything.
- battery must last at least an hour
- widescreen is a definitely plus so are the shiny screens
- scratches and normal wear and tear are fine, you should see my T23, its REALLY beat up but [censored], IBM build quality is really top notch.. now if they weren't so expensive...
I have been around a couple forums, you can find me under:
