WTB Thinkpad in Philadelphia

Hi, there! Greetings from Oslo, Norway :)

I'm going on a vacation to the US for the first time in June (can't wait). Most of my time will be spent in Philadelphia, and I have been thinking about buying a Thinkpad when I'm in the US.

A fully loaded X60 costs about 5000 USD in Norway, prices are insane over here.

I'm after a brand new laptop, and I was wondering: Who sells Thinkpads in Philadelphia. Store names, shopping malls, etc.

All help and PM's are very welcome.

Best regards,
Max

Office Depot stores in the US have recently begun stocking the newest Thinkpad models. Most have been direct sale up to now, so very few were on display in stores. Depending on where in the Philly-area you are visiting, you might find them at another store, MicroCenter (PA suburbs) or one of the local universities (there are many).

Thank you for your reply :)

I have a friend who is pretty familiar in Philadelphia who will drive me pretty much anywhere.

Office Depot, Universities and MicroCenter noted, will google a bit.

Have your friend order you one and it will be in the US waiting for you when you arrive. That way you get exactly what you want.

Now, why didn't I think of that?

I'm not overly keen on dealing on eBay, so I will probably check out lenovo.com unless you guys have a much better idea. Checked out officedepot web site, some pretty good prices there it seemed.

I'll search this forum a bit, tons of great information here!

Wow, the prices on lenovo.com are ridicoulous compared to prices off lenovo.no (.norway). Pretty much half the price on everything :)

Thanks, guys!

I have run into a problem with lenovo.com.

They only accept American Express as international credit card, and I don't have one.

My other option is checks and money orders, but I don't have a US drivers license for verification.

All in all, it seems like I have no method of paying on lenovo.com. I might apply for American Express, but it is a bit of a hassle.

Any suggestions of other online vendors I can check out? Ebay is my last resort.

Why don't you send your friend the money via PayPal? He then can order the machine you want.

I could do that, but the thing is that he is a Norwegian citizen (works in the US), and has no US Credit Card or Drivers License. So he's no better off than me.

Interesting.

Would like to add that I'm in the market for Thinkpad in the X-series (has to have integrated wireless). Needs to be in good condition and sport a decent battery.

Anyone have one for sale?
