WTB: Dead T23

#1 Post by tfflivemb2 » Wed Apr 05, 2006 5:20 pm

I am looking for a T23 with a dead system board.

I have a system board that I think that I might be able to bring back to life, but I just sold my last T23, so now I don't have a system to test it in.

The only real requirements for this system are the processor, working LCD, and decent or better casing.

I have HDs, ram, drives, etc. so I don't need any of those items.

My only problem with selling the board, is that I don't know for certain if it will work.

I am only testing a theory, based on this thread that I started.

yeah, you've got the same problem I have.
The fan cycles fast and slow, and would only boot - maybe - if I left it for a week unplugged.
I had no losse parts though. I wish I did, then at least I would have a definite place to start looking for the problem.

According to your sig, you have a T21; would it be possible and practical to fit the T23 board into that?

I would like to know this also
Though looking at pictures of the PCB , I highly doubt it

T23 MB

By and large, no. The major difference between the T20/21/22 and the T23 is the bottom half of the machine. And how the motherboard fits is a large part of that. It might be possible to do some dremel tool engineering, but it's probably a better route to pick up the bottom from a T23 and fit the other parts around it.
Family Daily Drivers- T430s, T530, X220
Work- Sadly, the ThinkPads have gone away...... and replaced by HP ProDesk SFF drone machines :(
Other Projects- Edge 15, Z61m (Titanium)

Yeah, the T23 and the T21 are not compatible. Some of the things are simple, such as the T23 having two USB ports, versus only one on the T21.

I figure if I buy a T23 with a dead board, I can always either resell it, or wait until I get a really good deal on a used T23 motherboard or a parts T23 with a working motherboard.
