WTB: 20-40gb Hard drive
Anyone have a used 30-40GB laptop drive for sale for $40 shipped or less? Or a 20GB for $30 or less?
I have someone that needs one pretty quickly. I was searching eBay, but figured I would check here at the same time.
Shipping can be regular mail to save costs.

I recently won a few on eBay- new ones from a seller I've dealt w/ before. Seems the prices are inflated last month or so for hard drives. Brand new 40GB Toshiba w/ s/h for $51.05 (w/ 1yr warr) and new 60GB Hitachi/IBM w/ s/h for $65.49 (w/ 30day warr). Guess that's the "going price" today. CFIdirect on eBay. Anyone have a bad experience w/ them?
[note: wish I could get a 5400rpm drive for that price!]

Yeah, I see that the prices on the used drives have gone up as well. I was used to paying less than $1/GB for used 4200rpm drives, but it doesn't seem to be the case, but then again, normally I am looking with plenty of spare time.
For this specific case, I am looking at buying one over the weekend, so that it could be shipped on Monday.

I bought a new 30GB drive from them in Dec., received a broken 40GB drive instead. The replacement arrived very quickly, but I had to pay shipping for the one I send back. However, quick and nice communication, would order from them again.PSUser wrote:CFIdirect on eBay. Anyone have a bad experience w/ them?

It's bigger than what you posted, but I have an 80GB 4200RPM that you can have for $75 shipped Priority Mail. About 10 mo old.
OEM drive w/ no label. Looks like this:

Still has the IBM drive caddy attached to it.
60-day DOA warranty. It's been formatted and a surface scan came up clean with no bad sectors.

I recently got a Western Digital 40gb 5400 hard drive from ebay still sealed with a 3 year warranty. The Buy It Now was $45 with $6 shipping. I found an online coupon to save $3 on shipping so total was $48. The seller is zorprime7. He/she's got another listing out there now for another drive, however, it looks like someone opted to bid on it instead of taking the Buy It Now. Keep an eye out, he may have more.
