Friend of mine has one of these laptops and has decided to go with a Dell (I know, I know).

What do you guys think would be a reasonable asking price for the following system:

R50e (1842-STU)
- Pentium M 725 (1.6GHz 2MB 400FSB)
- 15" XGA LCD (1024 x 768)
- 256MB PC2700 DDR SDRAM
- 40GB 4200RPM Hard Drive
- CD/RW-DVD-ROM Combo
- 802.11b/g Wireless
- IBM Warranty until 12-31-2006

STILL SEALED with the security seal in the original IBM/Lenovo factory box.

I was thinking $700 would be a good staring point. His cost was $809, but I don't think he can get that out of it.

Opinions?

$600, $650 if I was feeling charitable.

The best things in it are the WiFi card and the CD burner.

You're going to be out of pocket right after buying it for a new HD and more RAM!

Will you be happy with a 15" display in XGA (1024 x 758)?

What do you plan to do with it?

Regards,

James

Well, I'm just trying to get some prices for him. I don't like to hold on to laptops or parts for this very reason. DEPRECIATION sux.
