Well, the A31p only supports memory speeds of PC2100. Anything above that and you are waisting money. Right now, I only have one 1gb PC2100 stick (the kingston) and I don't get those in very often.

Any of the 1GB PC2700 modules will also work in the A31p (they will simply run at the slower PC2100). And you don't have to have a perfectly matched pair (the timings will be the same, so the system won't care if they are an identical brand or not).

So your cheapest solution is going to be to get the 1GB PC2100 Kingston and either the 1GB PC2700 Elpida or 1GB PC2700 Infineon stick.

To get a matched pair, you will have to go with a pair of the Microns (which are a tad more expensive).

Shipping to New Zealand would be an additional $3 US (total, for both sticks).

I have a T30 with 512 in it now, what kind of memory do I need pc2100 or pc2700? And, do you have any of what I need available? Im new to laptops and especially this T30. Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you

Welcome to the forum!!!

The T30 uses PC2100 DDR memory (PC2700 will work, but only run at PC2100 speeds - so save yourself some dough).

Depending on how your T30 is configured, the 512 you have in there now is either 2 x 256 or 1 x 512MB (the only way you can tell is to take off the back memory cover and look).

If it is 2 x 256, you will have to remove one chip to install the 1GB stick.

PM me if you want the memory (1GB PC2100) and we'll arrange payment and shipping.

No, there is absolutely no difference in the name-brand stuff. They all use 6-layer PCBs and are made to comply with all standards.

The generic stuff is more of a crap-shoot.

Any of the PC2700 sticks listed in the first post (1GB or 512MB) will be compatible with the T42.

Payments accepted are paypal (no credit or debit cards please) or money order/ cashier's checks.

All are system pulls. All have been tested (memtest86+) and all come w/ a 30-day warranty (through me).

No extra charge for shipping to Canada. Same price. :-)

I don't have any PC2100, but the PC2700 is backwards compatible if you want to go that route.
