Excellent T42 for sale - feedback on price

Hope i'm posting this in the right topic. Basically, i'm looking to find what a good price to ask for this type of machine. I figure around 1050 dollars, but if somoene thinks it's worth more, then please tell me as i plan to sell this locally. (in MD/DC/VA area)

I have a Thinkpad T42 with a 3 year warranty good until June, 2008. (on-site repair)

Hardware as follows:
Extra 9 cell battery (only 1 charge cycle on it)
2 gigs ram
1.7 ghz
80 gb toshiba drive 5400 rpm / 8 mb buffer
CDRW/DVD combo drive (no, not a DVD writer)
ATI Radeon 32 MB Video
Excellent condition
Win XP Pro
Office 2003 Profession (full package)

what size screen is it? 14.1" XGA? SXGA+? 15.1?

Just for some feedback, you can get the same one with a 15" w/3year warranty direct from ibm website for 1099. Hope that helps.

I think the extra new 9-cell, the 2GB of RAM, onsite warranty, and the full MS Office package (if needed buy the buyer) more than compensate for not being brand new, and I would buy this one at the asking price before the one being offered direct, but Mrs. Yak said (rather, she screamed) I sure don't need another laptop. Being XGA his 14" would even be another advantage over the 15" model offered direct (to me, and likely many others). Your price looks fair to me for the complete package if all is as claimed, though for some buyers you may have to lower the price a bit by removing some of your "extras". Maybe offer it both ways?

people actually sell stuff on craigslist? I posted a laptop up there once, and all I got were people asking me to send the laptop to nigeria and that they would pay via western union...blah blah blah. Oh, and someone offering me $700 for a brand new laptop which was being sold dell.com for $1600+

actually, i plan to put it on craigslist.
it's a great site. if you put the line "no scammers" in the posting, then that greatly reduces the number of scammers.

I plan to sell it for about a grand, and yes, everything listed is included with the machine. If anyone on here is interested, PM me.

Just if it's paid with paypal, i might ask you to chip in a few extra bucks to compensate for the lame paypal service charges.

Will send pics if anyone wants to see it.

Yeah, i sell and buy lots of stuff on craigslist. But your right, those [censored] Nigerian scam that always come through do piss me off. lol

For the laptop, on here, i would think 800-850 is a good price. I sold mine with very similar specs for 750.

I use Craigslist all the time when I have something I'd rather sell local. My 2 main types of Craigslist sales: 1) there is a slight defect that might bother a buyer who doesn't see it first 2) an item is so nice that it has to be seen to be appreciated and justify a slightly higher price I might need to get.

Craigslist is a good balance between a place like this and a marketplace like eBay. Sometimes an item that rots in one type of listing sells quickly in another, so try each one and see what happens. I'll likely be listing my R50p on Craigslist soon if it doesn't sell here, then I'll try eBay if it doesn't sell on Craigslist.

If you're not offering this unit with the COA/License for Office and all the CDs for reinstallation as received from IBM/Lenovo or MS, then please remove any reference to it from your listing.

I just won an auction for a brand new 1.8 GHz T43 with standard (read modest) configuration of 512 MB, 40 GB HDD, 14.1" XGA,
ATI x300 (pretty much standard configuration of type 2668) for 1050$.
Your system is T42 based on 1.7 GHz CPU, however large amount of RAM and twice as large HDD compensate for platform difference.
So it seems this price to be fair enough.
