My house is now all laptops.....I have just obtained a Dell tower for free, but I have no monitor to plug into it to even see if it works
Prefer something very cheap, as I stated not even sure if this thing works? Would pick up if it was a heavy monitor and in the southern Ohio area.........
Wish it was possible to hook the tower to a laptop and use this screen, but I dont think it is possible?

You're best bet might actually be yard/rummage sales.
By the way, it never hurts to have a spare monitor around...never know if you will need to test the display of one of your Thinkpads.

In no particular order for finding cheap CRTs:
Yard/garage sales, Flea Markets, Goodwill sales outlet, Salvation Army Sales outlets, local St. Vincent DePaul outlet, my basement!

I've checked all but your basement and haven't been happy with the selection. What time is your house open for shopping untill?

We're never closed to friends.
Unless they were on the wrong side during the late unpleasantness!

Wow, excellent deal, even if you have to travel for it! (The one from no_man, not JHEM's basement)
I have purchased from no_man on more than one occasion and have been happy....free is even better.

I would also check craigslist. I have sometimes seen CRT monitors for free.

At that price, I would've picked up two!!
People here in the middle of nowhere would just salivate over a 21" display....my wife included.

Shipping for a CRT??? Usually far more than it's worth.
Check your local sources first.

I just moved from Cincinnati. I bought all my stuff at microcenter. I got a 21" IBM CRT with dual inputs for 150$ I would check with them, but most certainly I would look in the tradin post. Shipping will be outrageous probably, especially if you want it to get to you in one piece. You said you only needed it for testing and what not. Check out garage sales and stuff like that. Check around businesses as they might be getting rid of some old comp stuff. Your possibilities are endless for cheap stuff, too bad you dont live near cleveland though. Hope that helps

Most of the thrift shops near my home are so awash in old computers, monitors, printers, etc. that they have stopped accepting them.
I have a great deal of difficulty getting rid of a lot of the outmoded equipment we are often stuck with as part of the donation of usable equipment.
As I sit here I can see seven 15", three 17" and two 19" CRTs looking for homes. I'm confident I can place the 17" and 19" ones, but the rest will probably wind up going out for recycling.

James

I will give you and old, beat up, blurry 15" HP monitor for the cost of shipping and some candy (a pack of spree or sweet-tarts).
It works, but it does get blurry after its been on for a while. Has a built in microphone. I'll give you a model number after i get home
