Anyone have this Small white cable from i1400/i1500

#1 Post by tfflivemb2 » Fri Jun 30, 2006 7:29 pm

I was going to post this in the WTB conference, but decided to try here first, because of the age of this system.

I'm looking for the little white ribbon cable that connects between the systemboard and the Middle Cover/Launch Key Assembly (FRU 08K5865).

I have two systems that both of the cables broke off on. One one system it is the only thing that is preventing it from working.

Does anyone have one from an old system or something?

Small white cable

If you can wait awhile, I'm about to come into an i1400 (2621 series) that has some problems. I may end up parting the thing out so if it has the correct cable, I might have one at that point. That is unless.... you're interested in getting rid of yours instead (I might consider patching mine together)!

P.S. Bad KB, and power connector.

What do you mean by bad power connector? I fear that this might be the same cable. The Middle Cover/Launch Key has the power button on it, which is why it doesn't work.

I even tried using a razor to thinly slice the ends of it, to bare new copper wires, but it didn't work.

I can certainly wait until you get yours. It is just sitting in the corner right now.

Let me know, thanks!

P.S.
I'd be interested in the hard drive caddy if you have that too.

Power connector

No; I mean the barrel connector that the adapter plug into. It has some cold solder joints that I've repaired once and am not particularly feeling like doing again  , since it also has a broken trackpoint cable so it really needs a new KB as well.
