Right click on the Battery icon in your taskbar (assuming you have it enabled) and look for battery information - one of the tabs should give you the number of cycles. I might be interested if you ship to Australia, but my T40's current battery has the same amount of battery life and it's done about 360 cycles. So I'll wait to find out whether you're able to find out how many cycles :)

I don't have a T4x to try it on, I asked my friend to check on his work T40 but he doesn't have the IBM Battery application, or any IBM software... does the WinXP battery gauge have the cycle info? i don't see it anywhere

I can tell. The default XP gauge does not tell anything about the cycles.

Not as far as I'm aware. You will need some IBM/Levono software to interrogate the microprocessor built into the battery.

The IBM/Levono Thinkpad Configuration utility will display "Battery Information" from the "System Information" selection.
