WTB: Thinkpad 600e or other

#1 Post by Temetka » Sat Aug 26, 2006 4:42 pm

I need some king of Thinkpad again. Would prefer a fast PII or PIII system. I think the 600e is upgradeable to P3 right?

I got about $200 to spend.

Thanks in advance.

If you're comfortable doing the cpu upgrade in a 600e that's all well and good, but wouldn't it make sense to jump to a 600x or even a T20? I replaced a 600e and 570 with a T23 and T20 and couldn't be happier with the performance.

I just need something to play around with linux on.

I was looking at e-bay there seems to be ton of Compaq Armada M700's for around $125. Are those any good? I had an Armada before and I thought it was an excellent laptop.

Thanks again.

I had an M300 that jimmyD bought. My wife really liked it. Not sure if the M700 that you are looking at is anywhere near as small as my wife's M300 was. But it held up pretty well.

I just picked up a nice Armada M300 from e-bay. I had a 4131T back in the day and it was a great little trooper. I am expecting great things from the little guy.

/runs off to buy MEU and DVD drive...
