FT: High-end T40 for X31/X40 (or possibly non-TP tablet)

This is kindof an interest gauge... if i can't find what i'm looking for, i might just keep my T40
Here's my machine:
T40 2373-7CU
256mb RAM + 512mb upgrade = 768mb RAM
40gb 5400RPM hard drive
standard battery, hold about 2.5-3 hour charge
Atheros A/B/G II WiFi -- CRU
Radeon 7500, XGA 14"
DVDROM-CDRW. I've used it roughly twice
Comes with either blank HDD, linux installed, or XP Pro installed. XP pro recovery disks in any case.
Minidock included (and 2 keys)
It's in very good physical condition, this machine has been my baby for a few years. There's a few bright spots on the screen (in BL and BR corners), but they're not very bad spots. No dead or stuck pixels. Some minor blemishes on the rubber top, as it seems to accumulate those... i think they can be rubbed out.
Why do i want to trade? Well, i'm probably getting a nice new gaming desktop within the next few months, instead of a T60 (the graphics just aren't good enough). As you can read above, i've only used the CD drive a scant few times, it's just adding weight. If my laptop is going to be for school only, then i really don't want the extra weight and shorter battery if possible.
What i'm looking for:
Something smaller and lighter. From ebay searches, it looks like my laptop is worth about $500-600USD (more with the minidock). For that price, it seems that i could either get a X31 or X40 (preferred). It would be nice to have a cd drive for installing linux, so a base would be nice
If you have a nice tablet PC from another brand, i might consider, as the new X tablets are a bit above $600.
To reiterate -- i might not decide to trade, but if you have something that fits and want a CD-endowed thinkpad, please reply.
Cheers
