For Sale A20M...PIII 550, 64 ram, 6 gig harddrive,CD-rom and Floppy, battery holds some charge, about 30 - 40 mins., ac adapter included, this laptop has the 12.1" display. overall the laptop is clean and works fine...I need to get rid of it and the 600X that I have up for sale because I just bought a T20 and my wife is having a cow about all the laptops laying around here. asking $100.00 or best offer....I need to move these out as quick as possible.....If I want to stay married....HHMMMMMM?

I have reduced the price on this to $100.00...Ineed to get rid of it.

As I was taking pictures of this I noticed I made a mistake on the amount of ram...it is 64 megs not 128 as I originally posted, so I also lowered the price from 150 to 125.

I know the A series are not very popular, but this IS a very clean well working machine.

My take on the lack of offers is the screen. A 12" 800x600 screen (on a huge laptop) just doesn't cut it anymore.

Tiny RAM, tiny HD, and bad battery, don't help either. Basically, this is a parts machine with few pieces of useable plastic and the keyboard. The CD is worth nothing.

I'd say the adapter and keyboard (if in good condition) are worth the most. If you get an offer for $50.00, take it.

(FYI, I recently picked up an A20m on eBay with a PIII, 30GB HD, 384MB RAM, DVD, CD, port replicator, 14" LCD & AC adapter for $100.)

Sorry to be a bearer of reality. eBay or CraigsList is your best bet.

I agree that this unit would sell better on eBay or Craigslist. I have never sold on eBay (because of their fees and because I don't want to be screwed by Nigerian scammers) but usually do pretty well on Craigslist. The average person isn't as picky as members on this forum and doesn't care much about whether it's SVGA or XGA. Just throw in a wireless PC card and people will flock to you for this $125 laptop with wireless internet. Also, if the A20m has a COA sticker for Win2K and you have the CD, that would help a lot. When selling on Craigslist, be careful with emails that say "I am interested in your item", which are scams. Respond only to those that specifically say they want to buy your laptop, not just "item" or "goods".

BTW, I am looking at the tawbook and can't believe that almost all A20m's have only 64MB of RAM even though many of them came with Win2000. Win2K runs very slowly with only 64MB RAM.

The A2x is a great series of machines but the 12" models just aren't that hot probably because it's a pretty big machine for only having a 12" screen. It's like putting a 4-cyl engine in a Ford F-250.

Are you willing to sell without HD, RAM or AC for a lower price? if so I might be willing to consider it.

Yes you are right, I have already had a few of those....my favorite part is when they act so shocked when you tell them you know they are a ripoff!!!!

To Alphakilo....I am not sure it would be worth me selling it as parts....really has nothing special.....maybe my best bet would be to find a good 14" top for A series and switch them...A friend of mine has done that on his, it just cant be the 15" diplay...the lid is too large......thanks for the input.

Actually, if you can find a keyboard bezel to go along (since buying a new LCD will likely cost some good money, might as well go all the way with the spending) then a 15" screen should work fine; just make sure it's the XGA version since the laptop only has 4mb VRAM which would be pushed quite hard by the 15" UXGA.

If I can get a picture or two I might be interested in a weeks or two when I have more money to spend. I probably won't be offering $125 though.

Well I am hoping to get rid of it before then, but I can send you some pics later today and when you are ready you can make your offer if I still have it.
