We have recently taken possession of a ThinkPad R40 model 2723-3PU/CU3. Unfortunately, its R&R partition is totally messed up...with the predesktop area set to "disabled" in the BIOS, you cannot even see the partition anywhere (the production WinXP partition takes up the whole 40GB). Despite that, you CAN boot into the PDA, but it will not actually go through the recovery process (throws up a bunch of "cannot find file x" errors after you tell it to begin).

There is also no "Create Recovery Discs" icon anywhere to be found. I can "Create Rescue Media," but that only gives me the option to create the R&R boot disc; the option to create the product recovery discs is nowhere to be found, so I'm pretty sure it got wiped out before this machine found its way into our hands.

It is an out-of-warranty machine, so I sincerely doubt that IBM would be willing to send me any recovery media for free. I'm looking to either buy a set on the cheap from someone, or have someone make me a copy of their set and I'd pay for media & postage (+ a little something extra, if you want).

Thanks!
