Hi. I'd like to get a 7K100 (Not E7K100, I already have one) to replace the 5400rpm 40GB Hitachi my T41p was shipped.
The E7K100 is too noisy, I don't know if the 7K100 generate less noise than the E7K100 or compared to a hitachi 5400rpm drive. Can anyone confirm this.
So, I'm asking for prices including shipping for a 60GB or more Hitachi 7K100 drive. Preferably new.
Thanks

I haven't used an E7K100, but my 7K100 is quieter than my old 7K60 (and with less vibration!) and
maybe similar to my original 30 GB 5400 rpm drive.
However, Hitachi rates both the 7K100 and E7K100 at 26/30 dB (as compared to the 7K60's 27/33 dB). So the 7K100
may not be any better -- unless your E7K100 is a particularly loud specimen.
Is your concern mostly with the idle noise or the seek noise?

I'm concerned with both, but mainly with idle noise because sometimes I tend to leave the laptop downloading at nights, and the HDD is the only thing I hear (5400rpm drive).
I forgot to mention the E7K100 also vibrates a lot
Impressive the E7K100 does vibrate and generate more noise than its brother the 7K100.

Please could somebody sell me one 7K100 drive. I found lack of performance comparing the stock 5400rpm to the E7K100 I bought a few months ago. The E7K100 is very fast, but vibrates and produce more heat/noise.
I'm not in the States, that's why I want to know where can I get one.

Did you check Brent's stock lately? He might have one available for your T41p, plus he ships internationally

Looks like he only has a SATA on sale at the moment.
