Dead T21... How Much could I get?

So, If this new LCD Cable doesn't work, (and the new inverter, too) how much could I expect to get for my T21 (2647-4AU) with a bad LCD? Its got: Pentium 3 800Mhz CPU, 30GB HDD, 256MB of RAM, Battery & UltraBay Battery, Floppy Drive, CD-RW Drive, Docking Station.

Would I rather part it out and make $____, or sell it as a "dead" laptop with all the extras to make $____?

If I have to sell it, I will be buying a T40 :)

Thanks,
Nick

Well, the price would really depend on what someone is willing to offer you, since the problem is unknown at this point

If you part it out, remember that you can use the hard drive in a T40. This might make buying the T40 cheaper.

I'm half tempted to make you an offer on the complete system...but I am sure that it wouldn't be enough for you.

Well, I'd be hoping to get around $100-150 for the whole package... I just put a new inverter and a new keyboard bezel in it. I paid $300 for it last year, and I don't think its enough power for me because I had a vprMatrix (BestBuy Brand) with a 1.7Ghz P4M and then I had to downgrade to a 800Mhz... :( If I get $125 for it then I'd have just enough to justify the cost of a used T40 w/o shipping on ebay.

Thanks,
Nick

A quick scan of the recently completed listings at eBay shows maybe you would get $100-$125 for a T21 system with your specs and a bad LCD.

Parting out the system may get you slightly more money at the expense of dealing with multiple transactions/mailings.

Wow, I was thinking $100, but didn't think that you'd be interested at letting it go for that.

A lot of people get these delusions that older broken thinkpads are worth much more than they really are.

If you want to do $100 shipped, I can paypal you the money tonight, if you are interested.

Yeah, I thought it was a pain to list everything on eBay (and all those fees) and ship everything out seperatly... It might be in my interest to just sell the whole package, unless the LCD cable is it then I will probably sell the whole working system.

Well, The LCD cable should be here for Tuesday at the latest, so I think I will hold off until I get it in and I can verify that its non-working.

I will keep your offer in mind though,

Nick
