Pentium M Banias Centrino CPU 1.5GHz 1MB 400MHz 4 sSpec SL6F9

Great upgrade for ALL T4x and R5x Series ThinkPads.

Makes a big difference when upgrading from a Celeron CPU or Banias - improves battery life (Celeron) and performance.

This is a B stepping CPU and will work with all T4x and R5x machines.

Reduced to $25 delivered in the U.S.

Ron-

I saw you snagged that one off eBay at a great price - within the first hour it was posted. I would have nabbed it, too, had I gotten there first.

Let me know if you want the CPU, this is the exact model I used to upgrade a Celeron R51. It does make a noticeable speed and battery life difference. Plus you can remove the Celeron sticker and you'll see a Pentium M or Centrino logo at bootup - for $30, how can you beat that?!

If you're careful and slightly talented, all you have to remove is the keyboard to perform the upgrade.

And I was about to "upgrade" my T43 from 533 to 400MHz...

dsigma6 (Dan), you must have had every model of TP by now.

I would be interested to hear about 'upgrading' a T43 from a 533 bus CPU over 1.73GHz to a 400 bus Banias or Dothan. I wonder if the fan noise and heat would be reduced and if the battery life would increase. Or if you really can't tell the difference.

It'd be a nice experiment.

I've had a modest collection over the course of 10 months with ThinkPads. If only I still had them all...

You won't find a T43 guinea pig here! I don't even want to remove a screw sticker. I've got to keep this thing immaculate for resale down the line, as I noticed prices aren't as high as I had hoped. It'll probably only be worth $500 this time next year, even with 14 months of warranty left by that point.

I bought this advertised as not having the fan noise...it does.

It's annoying, but only in quiet environments- ie. turn the TV up!
