I bought this as a project a few months back and never really got around to it. It has what appears to be a bad motherboard. Sometimes it will boot ok, but if you flex the case, the screen gets what seems to be static and sometimes turns off. Apparently a common problem on this model. Obviously, it will need a new mobo.

You will also need some plastics. There are a lot of small chips on the base parts - the screen surrounding is in good shape, as is the screen. It will need a new keyboard, or at least some key caps. It is missing a few screws too.

This would make a great cheap machine to rebuild or use for parts. To summarize, heres what you get:

T40 (Model # Sticker was removed)
512MB Memory (2x 256)
DVD-ROM (Sorry, I forgot this in the original description)
40GB 4200RPM Hard Drive (W/ Caddy) (Formatted)
XP Pro COA
Good 14.1" XGA Screen
Good 6 Cell Battery
AC Adapter
Intel 2200BG Wireless
Needs Case Plastics / Keyboard
Bad Motherboard

The system as a whole is as-is, and no guarantees. I will, however, guarantee the following components to work individually: Memory, Hard Drive, Screen, Adapter, DVD Drive, Battery, Wireless Card

Looking for $250, Reduced: $200, shipped inside the US, $280 Reduced: $230 outside the US. I'll also throw in a UB Slim Battery for another $30.

I will also part this out. PM me with an offer if you want to buy certain parts.

you mention that the model number/sticker was removed, would that void any warranty the machine might still have? does it have a warranty do you know?

You probably have your reasons, but why not part this one out? I haven't checked prices on the T40 LCD, but I imagine it's up there. HD, battery, memory, DVD, wireless, AC...You can get plenty more than $200!!

edit: Ok maybe not plenty more...I digress!

Sometime, it is time consuming to part the whole machine out.

The LCD runs from 100 to 150 for used one. I recently try to fix a machine and have looked at the price on eBay.

All other stuff, a bit over 100, I guess.

No, it's always time consuming!! Depending on the day, the parts may fetch about $250 on eBay, from my estimates/comparisons.
