It is already sold.
I finally got a brand new thinkpad X41. I am using the hard drive, wireless card and memory for my new X41 from my old X40.
This machine is just the machine under my signature. It is an X40 machine (2386-8EU). The motherboard was broken. I bought a X41 tablet motherboard with it. The machine works fine but I would just part it out because I cannot describe the machine as X40 or X41, although everything works.
Now I will part out my X40
1, The X40 LCD, complete upper panel --- $200 plus real shipping. The LCD works fine with no problem at all. I use it daily before today.
2, The X41 tablet motherboard---$220 plus real shipping.
I initially bought this to replace my X40 motherboard. But the guy sent me a brand new X41 tablet motherboard. The board fits the X40 quite well. The only problem is that some light indicators does not fit. I can live with that as everything else works fine. But to sell my X40, I need to part it out.
The motherboard works fine. Pentium M 758 1.5M, Dothan. 256M built-in memory. Includes modem and Intel NetExtreme 10/100/1000 network adapter. No wireless card or extra memory included.
I think the motherboard initially was made for X41 tablet as there is a tablet feature (tablet pen).
I am keeping everything else for a while. But I can sell the 8-cell battery if somebody really needs it. I prefer to keep that as a backup.
In response to questions, here are three pictures:
