FS: A31p (2GHz/UXGA FlexView), $399 [SOLD!!!!!!!!!!]

$399 plus actual postage and insurance (should be less than $20).
It's an A31p (the last and best model in the A series) in mint condition, except for two grayish 8-inch scratches on the lid. This laptop works flawlessly, and is the most economical way to get a beautiful 15" UXGA display! I have enjoyed using it for three weeks but am selling it because I just bought a Dell Inspiron 6000 laptop with an even higher display resolution (WUXGA). It's 7.30 pounds and is thus considered a desktop replacement system. Here are the specs for this wonderful A31p:
model 2653-R8U
2.00GHz Pentium 4 - M
256MB PC2100 RAM on one stick (one empty slot for upgrade)
40GB 5400rpm HDD with WinXP Pro hidden partition intact
15" UXGA-IPS (1600x1200) FlexView display
CD-RW/DVD combo drive
built-in ethernet and modem
64MB graphics memory
TV out port
Battery health is green, 59 cycles, 33.64 Wh full capacity
AC adapter
WinXP Pro COA sticker instact
I only accept bank-funded PayPal. I have sold three Thinkpads on this forum and all three transactions went smoothly.

Not actually knowing the A series laptops (ie. never owning one), I don't have experience with these larger laptops, but....................
This does seem to be a great buy! Pianowizard has an excellent laptop for sale!
If I had sold my other T40, I'm still waiting for someone, hint, hint, I possibly would jump on this. I trust pianowizard and know I would be getting an excellent laptop.
Just my two cents,
Ron

I have to chime in here for pianowizard, i bought a 600e from him a few weeks ago and it was absolutely in perfect (almost out of the box) condition. I'm tempted to buy this for a christmas present, (not for myself of course).

An A31p would make a fine music server!
There are just too many nice machines at good prices available this week. If I didn't already have an A31, I'd bite.

To me, the best thing is that the UXGA resolution enables one to view four web browsers simultaneously.

But none of these machines seem to be getting sold! So, it's not that they are competing with each other, but instead people just aren't buying anything!

I'll take it if it is still available. I have never purchased on Thinkpads before but I am familiar with eBay. If I am the "winner", how do I send PayPal to you?

BTW, as long as this thread doesn't say "SALE PENDING" or "SOLD", this laptop is still available. I haven't heard back from ramcelroy yet, so nothing is firm.

Yet another price drop! There is a local guy who is offering me $390, but I would prefer to sell it to someone who really admires Thinkpads (i.e. you guys!), so I am lowering it to $399 and hopefully someone on this forum will grab it before this local guy comes over to take it tomorrow (Sunday) at 6 p.m. This will be the final price drop! Yeah, I need to ask for $9 more on this forum than on Craigslist because it's quite a hassle to pack it up and mail it. People, please grab this while it's still available!

Sale is pending to a local buyer.

Glad to hear that. I always cringe when I, or someone else on the forum, always have to compensate for the educated buyers of the forum. I imagine you sold it locally for more than $399?

I am meeting this guy in Boston MA tomorrow morning. Assuming that he shows up (>80% chance he will, because he seems serious about the purchase), I will be getting $420 - $15 bus fare = $405 net gain. I am convinced that this laptop is worth more than that, but I don't want to wait any longer because I need to free up some desktop space in my office. After getting rid of this, the next one to take care of will be a semi-defective Dell Inspiron 600m that I just got from eBay.

Hopefully he shows up. Can't you just hold onto it and get it on eBay for at least $475?

I have two desks at work, but only one is in a secure location, and that one doesn't have drawers! Even if storage wasn't a problem, I would still feel guilty about possessing so many laptops that I never use -- after getting the Inspiron 6000, which has WUXGA resolution, I stopped using the A31p.

Somehow, I am still reluctant to sell things on eBay.

That local guy showed up, so it's sold! Hooray!
ramcelroy, I tried to PM you just now but am not sure that it got through. I just wanted to tell you that the laptop had been sold this morning.
