Thank you for the link, but do you know if under the sticker (Philips) is Atheros chip?

Yes. I have one of those cards, too. For a short while the Atheros cards were called Philips or Philips Atheros. Either way, they come up as Atheros cards and use Atheros drivers. I think there was some sort of partnership before Atheros had a name for itself.

You can do a little more research or wait to hear from others, but I'm pretty sure about this, as I was confused, too, when I saw the label on the card.

Just in case you didn't know, you can get practically any miniPCI wireless card to work in a T40-43.

I have a T42p with an unsupported ubiquiti (atheros) 400mW b/g card.

All you need to do is download no1802.com file and follow instructions. That eliminated the miniPCI "authorized card" check and allows you to boot with any card in the slot.

alex_777, did you pick one of those up? If not, I'd let mine go for a little less - $45.00 delivered.

Syncromesh,

How do you like the performance of you ubiquiti card? Does it drain your battery much quicker?

Yep, thats the one I'm talking about. I've been kind of waiting on someone to buy it to see what kind of results they got.

I don't use it with battery much if ever. The machine is used as a stationary Linuxbox at work (although it's my own machine). Aside from that, the wireless card has a pretty good reception and works well so far.

I have an original IBM mini-PCI Atheros. I'm waiting for an RMA to return it (it seems to have gotten lost in the shuffle) but can sell it for the discounted price I paid.

It came to $70 including taxes, shipping, and handling. I'll send it out as soon as you buy it.

….what is the FRU number of your card, I don’t like to do any modifications on the BIOS or etc., if it works straight up I’ll take it!
