Looking for 15" LCD panel for Type 2628-P1U. It has 2 horizontal lines across it, and I'm told it wouldn't be the video card. This unit was given to me by a guy in exchange for trailering his motorcycle. It is my first thinkpad. It works fine otherwise and I'd like for my wife to use it.
This is my first post in this community. I'm also "patiently"

awaiting delivery of my new t43. If I had known I'd have to wait 2 1/2 weeks just to have them add a stick of RAM, I would have ordered them separately.
As far as the LCD goes, I hope I can do this myself. I'm well-versed in desktop hardware, but this would be the first laptop I dive into. All tips appreciated!

You'll need the Hardware Maintenance Manual (HMM) available on the Lenovo website...but a quick search didn't turn anything up for me, I don't know why though.
You have to remove the keyboard, bezel, hinge covers and a couple other things to get the LCD assembly out. It's pretty straightforward, and the HMM will make it easy for you.

Thanks. I've found the manual, but haven't looked it over yet. I've bid on a screen on ebay, but have 24 hrs to see how it work out. Still accepting offers.

I think before I replace the LCD that I would try reseating the cable on both ends first....most likely doesn't have a good connection on the back of the LCD...unless it is a line of dead pixels.

There are actually 3 horizontal lines, one along the bottom of the frame, another about 1/4 way up and another about halfway up the screen. The top one is about twice as wide as the other two. A friend said something about wires or strings in the screen? Does this make sense?
Thanks for the tip, I will look into it.

Well I am no expert...but I have done a lot of work on laptops...especially IBM's...and for as little effort as it takes to check the cable on the back of the LCD I think it is worth a try before you buy another LCD...you just need to be very careful when pulling the lcd away from the back and not twist it too much in either direction or you risk breaking the backlight.

Found a panel and installed it this AM. Have built and repaired many a desktop unit, but had never worked on a laptop, so I was a little nervous, having visions of getting it apart and not being able to get it back together.

But I found that it actually went back together easier than it came apart. It just wasn't very difficult. The HMM did a very good job guiding me through it. Cool forum, and I love learning about all my latest interests here.
Thanks!
