I don't know, but I had an R30 and the IBM B/G adapter worked without the no-1802 hack. Maybe others can comment.

If it works in an X30, I'll take a Broadcom one. If you could link me to the correct drivers, that would be nice too.

I bought a Intel abg card, even with the IBM FRU and everything and it needed 1802. Even then, it just doesn't seem to work because the drivers say it can't power up the device. So sad =(

The Broadcom with an X23 or X24 is fine, no issues. I don't have an X30 (yet!), so I can't test.

If you want to roll the dice for $16, send me a PM.

I'm pretty sure it will work.

P.S. I got the same error from the IBM a/b/g card in the X23 and X24 - This device cannot start. (Code 10).

** Broadcom BCM94306MP - Broadcom IEEE 802.11 b/g Wireless Internal Mini-PCI Card, works perfectly without 1802 hack and with generic Broadcom driver in X22, X23 & X24's, I have not tested in any other ThinkPads, these are fast and trouble free! $16 delivered in U.S.

Would this work in a T23? If so, I'll take one...

I just bought one of these from Underclocker to add to the T23 that I bought from you Ron, but was able to finally sell that T23 BEFORE the card got here....figure the odds. So, needless to say I didn't get to find out if it would work. (Don't you love it when people say something even after saying "needless to say"?!?!?)

Given the price....I'd take my chances if I were you Ron....you see enough models, that it will msot likely work in ONE of them.

Great. It will be interesting to see if this card works in the T23's.

Although I have a T40 and an A31, I haven't had the time to test them in these models, yet. It'd be nice if the Broadcom cards slip under the BIOS radar of more than a few IBM models.

re: Broadcom BCM94306MP

There are several WiFi cards identified as BCM94306MP or BCM94306MPSG or BCM94306MPLNA. They all appear to be using the same chipset from the pictures I have seen. My guess is that the suffixes "SG" and "LNA" are simply certifications that they are designed to work or are approved of in certain areas (SG=Singapore?).

I have several T23s currently running BCM94306MP cards with drivers from either Belkin or Gateway (forget which one I'm using at the moment). No hack is needed to get these cards to run in the T23s.

In fact, these are the cards that I have been looking for in order to install in the 2647-4NUs that I'm still planning to sell. It's just that everybody on eBay is asking way too much for them. I can report that they are indeed trouble-free as I take this T23 with me from home (802.11b) to work (802.11g) and even if I hibernate it, when the system wakes up in the other location, the WiFi card simply identifies the AP I've setup in the approved list and automatically reconnects in a couple of seconds.

Okay, here's the result of a swap between a Broadcom BCM94306MP and BCM94306MPSG in a T23....

No problem.

What I had in this system originally was the SG card. As I thought, when I removed it and looked on the back, there is a special note that says "Approved by iDA for use in Singapore". The plain BCM94306 card does not have any special markings for or about Singapore. I am using the Belkin Configuration Utility and drivers. I removed the SG card and plugged in the non-SG card, booted Windows XP and was greeted with a message that said "new hardware found". I disabled Windows control over the new wireless card, opened the Belkin utility program and provided it with my WEP key and I'm back online. Note that this is with a 802.11b network.

I have also posted a picture showing both cards here:

Ray, that's great work. We should make sure this info gets over to the T2x section, too (if it's not already). Those cards were in many, many Dell machines, so they should be plentiful.

A comprehensive database of what works with what would be great for this board. I proposed it over in the Forum Suggestion Box section, a short while back. I'm not sure of what technology is needed to support it, but it would be useful and quick for many who visit here.

I've posted my experiences with the Broadcom card a couple of times, starting with this thread:

http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?t=28960

Search the archives using "t23 broadcom", select "search for all terms", restrict the search to the T2x/T30 conference and if you only want to see where I posted, enter my ID in the "Author" field.

edit: Well, actually I had a question about this card myself way back here:

http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.ph ... 833#181833

And sorry to have hijacked this thread somewhat... although it is confirmation that the Broadcom card will work in another system.

Just to let everyone know that the Broadcom BCM94306MP has worked perfectly in my R31 without any hacks at all.

Plugged it in, ran the antenna wire, loaded up the Broadcom driver and it booted up and went straight into XP Pro with no problems.

Signal strenght is increased heaps as an added bonus.

Good woork :)

Hi Underclocker, Do you have any more Broadcom BCM94306MP's left?

I would like to get hold of one for my R31 - it would also need antennas for a 14.1" monitor. I live in UK, so shipping may be different, though I do find USPS air overseas to be fast and reliable getting here in 3 days which seems better than domestic!

Cheers
