Looking for Recovery CDs for an X31, plus other things

Thanks to Ken Fox, I should be able to get a quick solution to the problem generated by the strage set of Recovery CDs I got ( http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.ph ... 5ee28ec7c9 )

But actually I would also like to see if someone would be so kind as to share me images of fully working (meaning able to install also the Predesktop Area) Recovery CDs for an X31 (win XP professional english).
I know from a post I've read that there should be around a working set made of 5 cds and that is including xp sp2.

Also, another thing.
The Software Installer downloaded and tried to install Thinkvantage System Update to substitute the IBM Update Connector.
But it's failing to uninstal it, and in the add/remove programs there is no option to uninstall the Update Connector. Maybe this is still a problem related to the set of Recovery cds I've used.
Any suggestion on what to do in order to eliminate the Update connector and install the ThinkVantage System Update?

I bought a set from Dmitri_P for $20 since I need them really urgently. You can contact him if you want them - I am kind of busy right now, or else I'll send you those for shipping cost.

I am heading to China in a few days so I may not be able to help until later in January with a copy of a set. However, I believe that when you restore from the original disks, you should have the predesktop security set to Disabled rather than to Normal. This allows the restore disks to "see" and overwite the predesktop area with a new one. Then ojnce everything is installed and working, go back into bios to turn back on the security for predesktop.

It has been a while since I did this, so if someone has experience with this, please confirm or correct me!

I am actually looking for one too, just bought a X31 and seller said that the recovery is built in the hd, looking for one so I can upgrade the hard drive.

Tried this using a new hitachi hd (just to make sure that the seagate was not responsible... like not supporting some ata commands). I've simply obtained the same result, a working xp without the predesktop area.

Would it be advisable to extract the predesktop from the original hd and add it to the new one?
If so, instructions?

I've tried to clone the original hd (original in an usb enclosure) and I've obtained a working hd without the predesktop...

I just ordered a set from IBM. They should be here on Monday. I'd be happy to provide sets for a nominal fee to cover materials and postage. Just PM me and let me know if you want a set.
