folks, trying to get IBM to send me a set of recovery cd's. it didnt come with the machine that i have. I blew away the restore partition since i wanted full use of the hard drive. I put in a service request and was told i had to pay a 45 dollar charge for the cd's. I've read that others have had luck, but wanted to see what you said and how it was obtained.

Thanks in advance!
Brian

IMO, $45 is not a bad price to pay. Could you have not made a set of Product Recovery discs from your T4x ThinkPad before wiping the service partition? Did you really need that few GB of space so badly? You chose your route, so now you are suffering the consequences.

Maybe another user here can help you out, but from my point of view, your situation does not deserve much sympathy. I say: just pay the $45.

didnt have the option to make a recovery set.
think before you assume. if the hard drive crashed, would i still have to pay 45 dollars? I don't think so.

If i'm paying for a license, i'm entitled to have a restore kit. I shouldnt have to lose drive space over something that IBM/Lenovo wants to do and save some money on. CD's are only several cents a pop. What [censored] me off was the shipping charges. they claimed it was 45 dollars for shipping charges. Told them to use regular mail and they could send it for a buck instead.

sorry if i'm being cranky about it. i don't need someone telling me "suffer the consequences" for my actions. Every other machine i've used and worked with comes with a set of recovery CD's. Dell will even send them for free if you ask.

Can somoene else provide positive information? :)

Thanks,
Brian

Anyone who chooses to help you out is, of course, free to do so. However, they will have to do it off-line.

Well actually somtimes things don't work out the way you plan them. I had problems making recovery disc's from my t60 out of the box.
