FS/FT: ThinkPad 600

#1 Post by AlphaKilo470 » Mon Jan 01, 2007 9:32 pm

I'm looking to sell my ThinkPad 600 since I don't use it much anymore. It's specs include:

20gb Hitachi hard drive
Windows 2000 Pro
300mhz Pentium II
8x DVD
1.44" Ultraslimbay floppy with external enclosure
AC adapter
192mb RAM
13.1 XGA TFT LCD

The 600 also includes a port replicator with PCMCIA minidock. Notable flaws include some paint missing on the speaker grills and minor specs and blemishes in the screen visible when viewing large areas of solid black. The screen is very bright and the case is in very good shape with minor wear from use. My classmates often mistake this computer for something new. I PROMISE that the Enron asset tag on the replicator does NOT have any hexes or curses attached to it. I've used it with great results on four separate 600s between two people.

PM me with offers. I'm also willing to make a trade-up deal. Pics available at:

You know you can upgrade that machine to a P3 if what I have read around here is right.

Good luck. :)

The 600E and the 600X can use PIIIs, but not a 600 as they can only use the MMC-1 CPUs

I have a T21 now so I'm no longer looking for a laptop but my ThinkPad 600 is still for sale. If anyone is interested, feel free to PM with any reasonable offer.

Haven't you owned this TP600 for a long time? I thought you'd be so attached to it that you would want to hold on to it.

I'm trying to ease the edge of various expenses such as textbooks. Actually, now I think of it though, I might keep the notebook and give it to my sister since the OmniBook 4150 I gave her has some structural damage to it and I have a good reliability and track record behind the 600.

Yeah, I hope I keep my hands on it awhile too. Since I have steadier income than I did half a year ago and I have stuff I can sell before it, I should be fine. In fat, at this point, the only reason I don't have a T43 or something else new is because I'm trying to keep a good reserve to get me through the next 3 and a half years of school.

Speaking of school, I went through my first class with the T21 and it held up pretty well. I spent half the time taking notes and the other half surfing. Keyboard is actually noticeably nicer than the one on my previous T21 as is the screen.

But yeah, for some reason, I never seem to hold onto a laptop very long. I think my record so far is keeping a 380ED for two years.

Speaking of school, after my first semester in college, I stopped buying textbooks but was still able to maintain a 4.0 GPA. The secret was taking extremely good lecture notes. So, if you want to save a few hundred bucks a year, take good notes and you won't ever need to buy textbooks again. Or, you can just check them out from the library. I don't know about your school, but our library had older editions of the textbooks which we could check out for the entire semester.

Well, for my math class I actually need the book for all of my homework and such. As for my other class this quarter, Employment Law, I bought the book since the remaining $63 left on my state grant for the quarter covered half the cost but otherwise I might have passed since all I need is working knowledge of the concepts covered in the book. I didn't buy a textbook for my psychology class last quarter and passed with flying streaks and borrowed my literature book form a friend. Unfortunately, the borrowing solution only works so well when you're in higher level classes than many of your friends.

If and when he sells the T21, I'm sure I'll still have a couple of T23s he could pick from :) .

How about 600Xs? Something like that one on your website with the built in external antenna would be nice to have...
