Can you confirm the specs? The product code at the top doesn't match up with the specs you list. Were the specs for the one you sold previously or this one?

Must be, I assume, since the given model number is a T40. coolname1 has good feedback from previous sales through the forum, so I doubt he'd be intentionally misleading in the listing. :)

Hopefully it's just the code that's wrong, then. =)

The model # is 2373-CTO , serial # 99-A3TCV

This still comes up as a T40, while the model pictured is a T41. Can you please confirm the specifications you have written in your original post? 1400x1050 screen, 60 GB HD, etc. Does it have built-in wireless as well as the PC card? Do you have pictures of the unit, if it's not the one pictured?

It is a T41. Those are the pictures of the actual unit. This unit is wireless upgradeable. The specs posted are as accurate as it could get.

This guy is all sorts of sketchy and unhelpful. The specs on that serial number don't match up very well.

After agreeing to buy it in my first email, and asking reasonable folow-up questions about the disparities, he responds with single lines that don't clarify things.

When I ask if it comes with backup disks and if I can pay with credit card through Paypal if I add the 3%, he responds that it's just been sold. I'd been under the impression that I had already agreed to buy it, and he did nothing to dissuade me of this.

Not recommended!

For the record, the reason that the system keeps coming up as a T40, is because the T40 and the T41 both have 2373 Model numbers. The CTO just means that it is Configured To Order. Lenovo/IBM's system automatically takes you to the first available 2373-CTO, which is the T40 model. I ran the serial number to make sure that it was under warranty, and it was. I could have also easily called Lenovo to verify that it is a T41 instead of a T40, but since coolname1 has posted pictures of the specific system that he is selling, I wouldn't have needed to.

As for him selling it, if questions between you kept going back and forth and someone else saw that FS ad, it could have easily been sold. Someone seeing the thread bumped might have offered him a deal right away...besides he first listed this in January, and we are now in March....I am sure that he jumped on it the second someone said "I'll take it...here's my money". I know that he has probably had a lot of "tire kickers", but as they say "money talks...".
