After examining my credit card bills I have decided that I can not afford to buy a new laptop.

Especially with the offers I was getting... I thought it was reasonable and wouldn't need negotiation... but offers I got minus shipping... I might as well pretend its a headless min-atx setup.

If you include an AC adapter, I'd say yes, but not any more than $100.

Yeah... ill include the adapter.
Might I have a chance of selling easier if I take it apart? Only concern with that then is can't get rid of everything
To save on making tons of posts...
If you guys are interested in parts... I can part it out...
If I can get claims for most of the parts then ill do it.

The screen is the only real problem here. I would say part it out. You might get more money for the parts here and on ebay. With some of these old computers, people just want the parts to fix the ones they have. It sounds like the unit is in decent shape. Someone might buy the unit then go look for a replacement LCD display. One of my friends did that with a A21m. It had the 12" screen then he bought a cheap one with a working 15" display and swapped the screens. Looks nice now.

I would try selling it as a whole first. You might get more money from parting it out if you can sell all the parts. I've tried parting out machines before and I still have tons of parts left over. Parting out is an absolute last resort option for me.

So... not much interest overall. Got only a few offers and most were for trade...

Does the line of pixels appear all of the time, or just occasionally?
I didn't see it in the "overall" pic of yours on the boot screen.

What exactly is the matter with the 20G HDD?

The line.. is mostly permanent. I believe it is from the twisting of the lcd when it is opened and closed.
I have taken the lcd apart (as in detached lcd from the light box) to examine the ribbons in that sector and saw nothing of interest.
The 20gb... is just dead.
I have been using it with TONS of SMART errors and clicking sounds... A few times, XP refused to boot... but I just reformatted and continued to use it. So it died, I revived it, and I let it die again. It teaches me to buy a used drive on a forum for really cheap, with an average SMART status to begin with.
I think the 12gb should be just fine though. The drive is loud, annoyed me, so I decided I needed to upgrade.
