I used to buy these Model M keyboards NIB, New Old Stock, off ebay for about $10 each. Unfortunately, it has now become a cult item and the price has skyrocketed. Fortunately for me, I have several lifetime's supply of them in the closet.

I would be interested in buying these keycaps if I could imagine how I would use them. The keys however do not break, at least in my 6 or 8 year's experience with these things. Perhaps if someone had an old keyboard that had been abused they could find a use for them.

Back in the days when these Model M keyboards were being sold, they cost over $100 and people would have a use for keycaps if the keyboard was around long enough (like 3 or 4 decades :P )

I'm thinking the reason why you aren't getting offers is that the keyboards are so bulletproof that they generally outlast their owners.

The keycaps really don't die, either. So the reasons to buy new keycaps are (1) missing keycaps, or (2) allergy to the dish detergent required to wash existing keycaps. (OK, it's actually a fair bit of work to get them off, washed properly, dried and back on, but they are pretty much indestructible unless someone has spilled something like paint or glue on the keyboard.)

Ooops, I had no idea old keyboards could be worth so much money. I threw away a perfectly functional IBM Model M just last month.

Do you have one to spare for me? (I'll pay you of course)

Unfortunately, that is 100% true - these keyboards keep on going and going and going!
