WTB: 240/x/z or 570

I'd primarily like to purchase a Thinkpad 240 in good condition, and I'd consider a Thinkpad 570 given that it's the 12" model. I might also consider a 240 for parts (or at least a working screen).

Thanks!

Why would you want that? It has the same dimensions as the 13.3" models, the same weight, has only SVGA resolution, and is uglier because the display doesn't fill as much of the surrounding bezel. The 13.1" models have XGA. In fact, if you don't paying a little more, you should get a 570E.

You should have posted this request earlier. Just two months ago, I sold a top-of-the-line 240X with a 30GB HDD that had almost 3 more years of warranty for $150.

I 'think' he is just looking for the 12" screen as a replacement for a 240 he may already own-I had the same thoughts are you but figured that had to be reason.

To sunkssss-if you might want a 570E with a 13.1" screen, scroll down just a bit further in this forum as I listed a few for sale just a few days ago.

I'd only want the 12" model because, well, I want to keep the price down! Especially since the 570 is only a consideration if i can't find a 240. I really wanted to see if anybody had "interesting" offers for a 570. But I'm really keen on finding a 240 model for under $175.

Ah, if only you had another 240x...

Well if you don't find a 240x, I bumped my for sale thread on the 570E's to the top-and they are well under $175!

I forgot to mention that I had also sold three 240's last year, ranging from $120 to $160, one of which looked virtually new.

Eric's 570E's are here. Try not to miss this opportunity!

I have several fully functional TP240 and one TP240x I am planning to sell. Two of the 240's and the 240x have built-in 802.11bg WIFI w/o modem(The original modem mini-pci card will be included). Once I get all the spec. and condition info together in a day or two I will start a new post here before I put them on online auction site.

PS. I live in Rhode Island and accept Paypal non-creditcard payment. Buyers must have confirmed Paypal address if pay by Paypal.

I thought it would be a good idea to post some photos first since I have been busy at school (as a graduate student and a TA). Please let me know any questions you may have regarding those laptops in the photos.

Here are the photos of TWO(2) TP240x(PIII500), THREE(3) TP240, and
some accessories.(The one with the blank screen is also fully functional. I didn't plug it in when I took the photo):

Built-in WIFI questions

I got a pm asking me about the built-in WIFI on those TP240/240x that I am selling. I thought it might be ok to post my answers here so people can get more info about this.

The wireless antenna were carefully routed around the LCD assembly to assure the best signal reception. The wifi card works just like any other network cards. The only thing users need to do is to type in the wireless AP/router info in order to make the wireless connection.

The mini-pci WIFI cards I used in the laptops are either Intel PRO/Wireless 2200bg or Atheros AR500x cards. They are both nice wifi cards with great signal reception.

For reference, in two threads of this forum ( http://tinyurl.com/2spjug and http://tinyurl.com/37uqh5 ) I post some of the WIFI setup and comparison between different WIFI cards in 2005 and 2006(sorry it's been a long time so the photo links in the posts might not work). Please feel free to check them out.

It took me almost two hours to collect all the info, taking pictures, and clean up one laptop tonight. Obviously I was not expecting it would take so long to do this. However I want to make sure I do this right so it's nearly impossible for me to post all the laptops I want to sell at once.

I will start with this TP240x and see how it goes first. (please check out my other post if you are interested.)

Thank you.
