Great Price on 2gb USB2 Memory Key

#1 Post by Ken Fox » Tue Feb 13, 2007 12:10 am

Buy.com, which is very far from being my favorite online vendor, has an amazing price right now on the 2gb USB2 Memorex branded Flash memory drive. It is $25.99 delivered, if you select free shipping.

Buy.com has reasonably good order fulfillment and are absolutely awful when it comes to getting them to credit you back for a defective item or a return. I'd exercise caution if buying anything expensive from them.

But this is a very good deal. I have the 1gb version of this drive and just bought one of these 2gb versions when I saw this price.

Nice find. Perhaps the admins and mods can move this to the Buy of the week thread.

It's amazing how cheap these things have become. Just last week, I bought a Kingston 2GB SD card for $16.99 shipped from Newegg for my Dell Axim PDA. The same thing was $80 a year ago!

Unfortunately I do not believe there is a way to merge threads on phpBB systems. At least I haven't found it yet. Best suggestion is to re-post the original message in the Buy of the week thread.

Too bad! I think that "Buy of the Week" thread is a good idea (thanks James!) and should be utilized more. For good deals on eBay, there is the Official eBay Bidding and Buying Thread.

Micro Center sells them in bulk packaging for $24.99 everyday. I have several 2GB as well as 2 1GB from them. Work great...no issues

Someday I will post pics of the 256MB IBM thumb drive I configured to work with the 2GB guts from one of micro center thumdrives(lights and all). I always get a laugh from someone when they read 256MB...little do they know..!Plus less likely to get stolen...

I have another 256MB IBM NEW in the box! ready for a 4GB upgrade once they drop in price.

I bought my 4GB Sandisk Cruzer Micro on Black Friday 2006 from Staples for $60 plus tax. It's much better than 2GB drives, which get full every now and then.

These are great, but if you guys are just "impulse" buying it might be better to hold off a few months. Faster NAND chips are supposed to be released and will make data transfers off these drives FAR less painful (access times are great on these, but transfer rates are 1/3-1/4 of a decent hard drive).

Just my 0.02.

Microcenter has 2GB USB 2.0 drives for $15, if you are lucky to have a Microcenter near you like me. They also have 1GB at $10. Same go for SD cards in capacity and price. Man, I love that store too much!

Unfortunately, during the five years I was in Cambridge MA (where there's a Microcenter store) for grad school, I wasn't interested in computer stuff at all!

Meritline has a $17.50 2GB USB2 drive.
