LF: Travel bezel for T60 (part #: 13N5108)

#1 Post by gator » Sun Feb 18, 2007 4:46 am

I will be on a traveling assignment soon and don't want to carry my DVD-RW with me. I am looking for a travel bezel (P/N: 13N5108) that will fit in my T60 which has the Ultrabay slim. Travel bezel need not be new. PM me with a price if you have one for sale.

I could not find it online anywhere or here. I finally got one (for free) when someone here bought a X61 with ultrabase and was about to discard it.

I called the number above and ordered part #13N5108, I have a feeling it will be the curved version for T4x, not the flat one for T6x/ Z6x. We'll find out tomorrow when it arrives. I've read a lot of threads that claim this part number to be valid for both the flat and curved bezel versions. Part was $7.16 and shipping was $13.50, and they could not tell me if it would be the flat or curved one. I even got transferred to tech support and then back to sales and no one could say yea or nea so I rolled the dice.

But that one is curved, right? I got one from a friend who also discarded it from her X61 ultrabase. I am using it in my HP nc2400!

True, it is not fully flat ... but it is not the same as the T4x travel bezel either. The part number printed on the inside of the bezel is
13N5108. Interesting to note that the X61 bezel fits in your HP nc2400.

dmichael, I wish you had contacted me through PM or something, I'd have given you the bezel for price of shipping.

It's not a perfect fit as it sticks out about 2 to 3 mm. I couldn't care less about that though.

13N5108 is listed in both the T4x and T6x hardware maintenance manuals so there's a good chance it will be curved.   however, i doubt you or anyone else will ever notice it. ;)   i use a T4x PATA HDD adapter with my T61p on occasion and the curved bezel doesn't look that bad.   it's a functional piece anyway.

I got the shipment today, it is indeed the non-flat version to fit T4x instead of the flat version to fit the T6x that I had hoped for. Oh well, it's not that big of a deal.

I'm wanting to order one through Lenov also but I want to see how noticeable the "curved" version is in a T61. Everyone says it's hardly noticeable and I'm sure it is but just want to see a picture.

Can you post pics?

Even if they do, I think it's better to get the curved one, which would fit both the T4* and the T6*. The flat one (assuming it exists) wouldn't be good for the T4* because its bottom corner would stick out. I would rather have a bezel that curves in rather than sticks out. Someday you might have a T4*.

I'm guessing a Second HDD Adapter for the T6x series will be the right shape, but that's a pricey way to get a UltraBay blank (though you can then put in a HDD for more strorage, performance, etc.)

The place I work, they throw out the bezels from the X61 bases, and I grab them when I can. Still trying to decide what to do with them. (They toss out the Ultrabay travel bags, too.)

(hehe, yeah.. i don't really need one but i'd take one anyways :) )
