WANTED: T22 Hard drive caddy
WANTED: T22 Hard drive caddy
Looking for a hard drive caddy for a T22. Only problem is I don't know if I need the cage with the holes in it or the "3-sided" one, (it's missing). Hopefully someone can chime in and give me a clue.
Thanks in advance.
Thanks in advance.

Something like this will work:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 0078986095
All of the caddies I've seen in the T2x systems are "three-sided" in that they are not fully covering/enclosing the hard drive. Most have holes, although the number and pattern can vary. Some (aftermarket?) of them are solid. They all should have a piece of plastic/mylar inside to prevent any accidental shorting of the drive electronics against the metal caddy. Caddies for the T2x systems should NOT have any pull tab (like ones for the 600 series for example) as they tend to get in the way of the hard drive cover.

Your a champ Ray!!!! As usual, a wealth of information.
One last question........without the caddy, what's the odds of creating a 251 & 271 error and a, (darn, can't remember exactly), allocation error: static node #1. It looks like there is mylar inside the computer but can't tell for sure.
Substituted a known good CMOS battery, problem stayed with computer.
Eye-balled the MOBO connector and it looks OK as far as these bi-focal requiring eyes could see, (I did use a magnifying glass).

Assuming you plugged in a standard notebook hard drive sans caddy into the motherboard's IDE connector, and that the hard drive guide rail was present, then I don't think you would have shorted anything on the HD to the motherboard.
Errors 251, 271 and allocation errors all seem to be indicative of a CMOS battery problem. It may be possible that there's damage to either the battery connector or an open connection somewhere else on the motherboard. I don't ever recall getting those errors when installing a hard drive.

if i am thinking of the correct thinkpad, you really don't NEED the metal caddy..
just the 4 screws..
as the screw heads fit in a slot inside the drive bay..
4 screws and the HDD door.. that snaps over the two outer screw heads..
slide the drive in and thats IT..
